Join Us! 12/3/2009

Welcome
Join us on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. for our Guild meeting. We meet at the Arts Warehouse beside the Farmers Market on Murray Ave. We have demos or programs at each meeting by artists to give us tips and techniques on different mediums of art and other things of interest to artists. You can always pick up tips to incorporate into your own work and learn things to increase your skills.

Our next meeting is Monday, February 8th at 6:30 pm. Taylor Dubeau will be doing a demo of her painting technique. Please plan to attend!

If you would like to join the Guild, to keep you abreast of art and member news and also upcoming shows or exhibitions in the area, click on the contact tab and you will be able to contact someone for questions or download a member application form.

The Artist Guild hosts a juried membership show at the Anderson Arts Center every year and there are other exhibition and sales opportunities coming up. AAG Members can get information about these shows in the Members Only section of our website.

The years 2008-2009 thus far have proven to be a very successful time for the Anderson Artists Guild. We have faced many challenges with the current economy, but have shown that we are a resilient organization with great hope for the arts in our community.

In September 2008 we had a joint venture with the Anderson County Museum to present the history of Anderson County through the arts. The show was entitled "Electric Memories: The History of Anderson County" and featured many historic sites rendered by the artists of the AAG in several different mediums.

In October we had our annual Juried Arts Show with Jose Acaba winning "Best in Show" and many other artist winning cash prizes and purchase and merit awards. In December we participated in the Anderson Historic Homes Tour. Several of our artists were invited to demonstrate their craft in the parlor of a historic home on the Boulevard in Anderson. In April of 2009 several of our artists participated in the Spring Jubilee in Pendleton SC. We set up shop in the upstairs of the Historic Farmer's Market in downtown Pendleton. It was a very fulfilling experience for those who participated. Also in April our artists were invited to display their art at the Garden House in Anderson. The theme was " April in Paris" and the residents truly appreciated the display and enjoyed the art. One artist's work was chosen for a purchase and drawing by Garden House management. The Anderson Artists Guild is also displaying their art at the Belton Center of the Arts for the "Art in Bloom" spring show which is currently on display until June 19th. Several of our artists have been accepted in juried shows throughout the upstate and have won awards.

Our monthly meetings have very informative and interesting demonstrations by local artists. We have featured artists in ceramics, glass, leather, marketry, photography, watercolor, collage and encaustic wax and other forms all demonstrating their craft. These are great learning opportunities with tips that can be incorporated in to your own art.

As you can see there are many display and sales opportunities for our artists in the upstate. If you would like to become a part of our organization, please contact us through our website or use one of our brochures found in the Anderson Arts Center. We would love to have you join us and we actively seek artists of diverse skills and diciplines to enrich our presence in the arts community in the upstate.
