| I have been painting and drawing most of my life. I took art classes through out my formal education in Greenwood, SC. In high school my art was featured on a school paper and I won a book cover contest in my senior year in high school.
After graduation, I pursued health care as a career path and attended nursing school at Lander University. I moved to California in 1983 and became inspired by award winning artist Lucille DeThomas and started painting again.
I attended water color, oil and acrylic classes at Crealde Fine School of Art in Winter Park, Florida. I also studied drawing under Carlene Shuler Brown at the Anderson Arts Center.
Since moving back to South Carolina, I joined the Anderson Artists Guild. I served as president for the year 2008. I was reelected to serve as President for 2009. I have organized art exhibitions at the Garden House and also the Anderson County Museum since becoming president, and look forward to working with my fellow artists in 2009. My work is in private collections in Florida, California, through out the south east and New York. My painting "Tiger Lily" was chosen for purchase at the Garden House Exhibition in April, 2009.
I have just been reelected as president of the AAG for the fiscal year 2009-2010. As President I helped institute the First Annual Online Juried Art Show in June of 2010. |
